I may have told a some of you of my Wednesday mornings at US on Wheels, a local roller rink in Arvada, CO. I found the class by happy accident after getting tired of dodging toddlers in the rink. At first I thought I had made a mistake by coming, I was the youngest one there! But the group was very casual and friendly. Everyone introduced themselves and I felt welcome.
We start out each class by warming up on the rink and socializing. After about half an hour, we’re invited to each grab a scrap of carpet and come to the middle of the rink for floor exercises. The added weight of the skates (up to 8lbs) on our feet really adds to the resistance. After the floor workout, we get back in the rink and do skating exercises; scissors, kicks, leg lifts, etc. It all helps with our overall skating and balance.
I absolutely love the class. I’ve told the ladies that I almost dread getting a job because I won’t be able to visit with them any longer. They are a wonderful group of women and inspire me to keep at my skating. Maybe one day after enough practice I’ll be as good as them.
