While Chris was working, I went on a tour of San Fernando and the surrounding area. There was some overlap between this tour and the Central Experience tour, but I still managed to see a lot. My guide was frank with me and told me that this was the first time he had done the tour. Well that made two of us! Seriously, San Fernando isn’t all that special – working class city with a few malls etc.
Instead of going up San Fernando Hill again, Luke, my guide took me to 100 Steps, which had a different view of San Fernando. You can actually see S.F. Hill in the background in the pictures.
After the Steps, we went downtown and saw city hall and the old police station. We took some pictures in the a public square between the police station and city hall. There were some statues of Marcus Garvey and Mahatma Gandhi in the square. Afterwards, we drove out to Debe for lunch. On the way we stopped by the Bay of Paria to see some ships waiting to dock and some local fishing boats. Then it was off to Digity Mud Volcano! Unfortunately, the mud volcano was fairly dry and wasn’t spitting mud.
