We bought these front loading washer and dryer set but refused to buy the cheap looking plastic stands they wanted to sell us for $299.00 each. “I can make it myself!” I thought and went to the internet for some plans.
They didn’t have any plans that I liked online and so I measured the optimum height for Lina to unload and load without bending over and started building. In true Werstiuk fashion, I over-designed everything and ended up with these huge monsters that I could use for plyometrics and needed two people to carry. The drawers are deep, so I added a removable tray that can slide back and forth for access to stuff on the bottom.
After we installed the stands, it turns out that the area where you add the soap and stuff is too high for Lina to see, so I designed and made the stool from scrap wood.
This was my first, and probably last, project with a HVLP sprayer.
The funniest part of this project is that the Family Handyman had a 1-page cartoon showing similar plans that were much, much simpler.
