Day One, Sept. 14 Very tired. So tired. We arrived in Sydney at about 8am. Checked into the hotel at 9:30am and had their famous Sanger sandwich. It was toast with ketchup, sausage, two triangles of hash browns, bacon and maybe an egg. We visited the Australian Museum, a natural history museum. My favorite exhibits were the birds and insects of Australia. The animals were cool too. We stopped in Hyde Park on the way home and heard and saw wild lorikeets in the trees! Stopped for pies at Pieface on the walk home.
Day Two, Sept. 15 Had the infamous Sanger sandwich in the hotel restaurant again. It’s affordable (only $10) and it keeps us full until after lunch time. Walked 1/2 hour to Circular Quay for our tour of Port Jackson (Sydney Harbour). Took lots of pictures mostly of the operhouse and the harbour bridge. We had a nice tea on board. After the tour we walked through the Royal Botanic Garden. I was excited at first to see two cockatoos in the trees, then we saw what I was after…the flying foxes! They were magnificent and a little scary. There was a colony napping and quarreling in the trees. Individuals would swoop in and grab a branch, then crawl upside down to another lower branch. After reading for a spell in the park we started back to the hotel. We ate at Kung Fu Ramen Secret Recipe Hand Pulled Noodles. Chris was really impressed by the shop walking past. The noodles were good, but the soup was the normal Chinese dirty dishwater stuff that I hate.
