We finally caught a break and had a job in CA during the Indio Date festival http://www.datefest.org/Information/PhotoGallery/tabid/71/Default.aspx which is one of Lina’s favorite childhood memories. The fair was interesting, if lacking the date theme, and was a lot of fun. We visited the art contest from grade schoolers to professionals, the pig races, the petting zoo (beware the emus, the camel races, ostrich races, and llama races. I was hoping that they still let volunteers get on the backs of the ostriches but they were all chariot races. Damn!!
We HAD to see the bird lady show and many of the birds had spots on animal TV. This woman travels around the country like we do but has a smaller RV with about 20 birds including one that stands shoulder high.
