We have a bunch of relays for training classes that we have to ship from class to class. We tried a bunch of different shipping methods:
- Shipping in the original boxes. We have 20 relays, so that was a pain.
- Shipping multiple relays in some good cardboard boxes with 2-6″ foam all the way around. Fedex destroyed half of the boxes in one direction and actually bent the aluminum supports of the relays.
- Shipping multiple relays (with supports removed) in some incredibly sturdy cardboard boxes with 2-6″ hard foam all the way around . Fedex destroyed half of the boxes in one direction and actually caved in a corner of one relay.
- Custom crates with wood frames around the relays. Over half the wood frames were damaged by Fedex and about a third were damaged beyond repair.
- Now we’re trying 1″ aluminum angle iron with replaceable parts. The first shipment left this week. Cross your fingers.
