The floor of the Airstream RV port was the cheapest roadfill that they could find when I had the pad leveled.
We are planning on hosting 50 people under it during Porkapalooza and thought it would be nice with a better floor. But it turned out even the cheap fake turf would have been over $400.
Then Michael Dees found this used turf from an endzone for really cheap. One problem. Each roll weighs 2,800 lbs! So heavy that it’s wrecked more than a few trucks when people came to pick it up. The ad came with a LOT of caveats like “No refunds!”, “Once it’s on your truck or trailer, we can’t get it off”, “NOT responsible for damage to your equipment”.
We drove down to the place with a giant uhaul trailer and talked to the guy, who looked at us and said he didn’t think that we’d be able to move it, even if we were able to get it off the trailer.
Michael Dees still thought we could do it, so we pulled the trigger and got “all-ancient-Egyptian” on that roll with rope, ratchet straps, fulcrums, levers, and muscle trying to move and cut it. We removed about 312 square feet of infill from the turf at least 2″ deep and broke one ratchet strap, one 2’x6′, and one broom in the process.
Eight hours later Theo, Michael Dees, Lina Dennison, and I were finally done. Luckily there was more turf than the ad suggested, so we were able to put the last remnant under the palapa, which fit perfectly.
