Lina bought this saw for me in December so I start building some of our upcoming wood projects. It’s the fancy kind that will automatically stop if it detects a body part touching the blade.
We bought the saw in December, but I had to re-arrange the shop to make room for it. I built a shelf along the ceiling and put everything into bins. Stuff can only come down to take up space in the shop if I use it.
I had put the saw together, but the fence for the version that fit nicely in my shop gets a bad rap on the internet. The bigger version of the saw has a much better fence, so I decided to upgrade. They were out of stock and had to order the parts I needed to swap. Luckily, they were able to modify an existing order so that I could get the parts in December instead of the end of January.
When I called looking for my parts a couple of weeks later, they had just sold them to someone else. Now I needed to wait to the end of January for them. In the meantime, I decided to upgrade the saw even further to incorporate a router table because I was going to have to make some accurate cuts for the next project.
All the parts arrived, but I spent over 12 hours putting it all together, modifying, and aligning all the parts.
Dust control is going to be important because the only plywood we could find was mdf. The fancier version of this saw has a top-side dust control arm, but they don’t have one for my version. So I created my version of it with pvc.
Now I have a fancy saw and its time to get to work!
