These chairs were supposed to be a Christmas present for My mom and Paul, be we sold the Gilpin house before they were completed and didn’t end up going to Canada for Christmas.
This was the first time I’ve worked with teak and it is my favorite wood so far. I milled all the wood, and used power tools to cut the legs into basic rectangles and cylinders. All of the shapes are hand carved with my new favorite tool, the spokeshave. The previous Roorkhee chairs we made were mainly shaped with a router and sandpaper.
Lina did all of the leather work.
