Last year or so, Chris got started hacking credit cards for points. (That means that we sign up for the cards that offer the most travel and reward points) This last trip took us to Kauai for a week. Our United flights were free and our baggage would’ve been free too if I hadn’t forgotten my United credit card at home (Dangit!)
We stayed at a condo resort between Lihue and Kapa’a. Our balcony overlooked the pool and the ocean. We didn’t make any tour plans or a set itinerary. Spent the entire week taking it easy and exploring the island.
The one thing I wanted to do was to do a tour of the historic Coco Palms. It was closed after Hurricane Iniki. The owners and managers influenced tiki style and the hotel was featured in numerous movies.
Lots o’ chickens! I heard there were more chickens running wild here than on the other islands, but it did not prepare me! They were like pigeons in their plenitude! I didn’t post most of the pictures of the hens and roosters because it would have been boring for you dear reader to see. They were everywhere; in every parking lot, in the parks, at our condo, and on the beach!
One of the most beautiful spots we visited was Waimea Canyon. It’s called the Grand Canyon of the Hawaiian Islands. Every scenic outlook was better than the one before. Couldn’t get enough of that place.
