Houston Art Car Parade 2023

We saw some of the cars beforehand at the Preview on Thursday afternoon.

Baby Yoda car. During the parade, large ears were placed on the sides of the car that popped out.
Stinky Cat
Art car made up of all safety cones to remind everyone to drive slower and watch out for road workers.
The Greta-copolyse truck. Imagined as a vehicle from the future where Greta Thunberg is an adult and we didn’t listen to her warnings.
You can’t see it from the picture, but this dog car is covered in glitter paint!
Orange bicycle.
4 seat Banana Mobile! Surprisingly, made out of a Ford F150 truck!
Carlaggio! This was a fan favorite.

On Friday morning, we went to Brazos Bend State Park. We haven’t been here in about 16-17 years! I have fond memories of all the animals we saw on our last visit. The park did not disappoint. We saw alligators on almost every water bank sunning themselves. The variety of birds was wonderful too.

Friday evening we met a couple of our friends at the Art Car Ball. Saw even more art cars up close and got to do some Truck e oke!

I really liked this one! These shapes were cut over the entire car!

Then we went to a parade with:

  • 1. All you can eat food and drink
  • 2. Assigned seating in covered bleachers
  • 3. Giant electric fans pointed at the bleachers
  • 4. Runners to get any food or drink you might want during the parade.
  • 5. Private air-conditioned toilets.
One thing we noticed during the parade, was that the vehicles were arranged in categories.
So this category might have been cars made up to look like other types of vehicles.
