I read this post in our local entertainment weekly ( http://www.voiceplaces.com/cannibal-the-musical–denver-boulder-2031358-e/) and had to go see the first project that the creators of South Park created together called Cannibal! The Musical . Lina said no-way until she was shamed into going when I made a plea on Facebook looking for a companion to see this obviously wonderful production.
We went to see the play on Friday and it was obviously horrible from the first scene. Lina buckled down for a nice nap until I woke her up 40 minutes later to say “Ready to go!” It was a good thing that they were singing at that moment which drowned out Lina’s loud “whaa” as she woke up. At the next scene change, of which there seemed to be hundreds, we scurried out of there.
The play was horrible in every way imaginable except the sets. Scene changes were often longer than the scene, jokes were horrible, and the songs were even worse. I couldn’t tell if the dialog was intentionally wooden as part of the joke or just bad. And remember that I am a seasoned Fringer and I do not recall ever walking out of a play before.
