Chicago was great. I took a shuttle from the airport to the downtown Travelodge Hotel and met Chris at our room. We then walked to the Sears tower and took a cab to the John Hancock Building. Dinner at the Signature Room on the 95th floor was very good. My mojito wasn’t very good and our dessert, a pumpkin hazelnut financier with spiced vanilla ice cream could have been richer.
The next day we checked out of the hotel and did a tour of Chicago on a double decker bus. It was very chilly out in the wind on the 2nd floor of the bus. After the tour we stopped for lunch at the Gold Coast hot dog stand inside of Union Station.
Chris told me all about his previous trip through Indiana and a stop in Amish Shipshewana, IN. We ate at a large Amish restaurant in town called the Blue Gate or something. Chris’ food was very salty, but if you’re going and it’s meatloaf night you should try it.
